Optional Insurance for Cricket Phone Service

Customers can elect to purchase handset insurance. Cricket Phone Service facilitates the purchase of handset insurance from a third party insurer. The Cricket Phone Replacement Plan (CPRP) provides customers with protection for their wireless phone and in-box accessories from accidental loss or theft, accidental damage and mechanical/electrical failure outside the manufacturer's warranty.

Get a Cricket Phone

The cost of insurance coverage is $3.95 per month. A co-payment of $35 will be charged to the customer at the time a claim is filed or the phone is delivered. Up to 2 claims per account are allowed per year starting with the date of the first replacement. Claims must be filed within 60 days from the date of the incident. Customers may sign up for insurance coverage at the point of activation. If you want to sign up for insurance post-activation please call the insurance company directly at 1-866-718-0693. If you sign up after you activate, there will be a 30-day waiting period for coverage to begin. If you have additional questions, please call the insurance company directly at 1-866-718-0693.

In order to process a claim, you will need to have a police report number or officer name and badge number (stolen phones only), the make and model of your Cricket phone, the Cricket Phone Service account billing address, and you must be the Cricket account holder. There is a $35 co-payment required to process your insurance claim. Please call 1-800-CRICKET to have your phone suspended to prevent unauthorized use of your phone or for further assistance.

If you do not have insurance on your Cricket phone, we are not able to replace your phone. As a convenience to our customers, Cricket Phone Service offers you information about enrollment, coverage, premiums, and deductibles, and a convenient way to pay for your handset insurance through your Cricket account. The service itself is provided by a third party.

In addition to the handset, the following accessories are covered under the program if part of your original purchase and included in your initial enrollment:

• Cigarette lighter adapter
• Desktop charger
• Plug-in charger
• Leather case (cosmetic damage not covered)
• Battery
• Ear piece/head sets
• Belt clip

If your phone is stolen, the insurance company will replace your handset with a refurbished one, of the same model or comparable, with regard to quality and cost.

Up to 2 claims per account are allowed per year beginning from the date of the first replacement. Once you have fulfilled this quota your insurance feature will be automatically removed from your account.
